Imperial Passions “I recorded Napoleon’s great war speeches. »

“Opera singer, actor, producer, author, I discovered the Emperor in middle school, and I have never ceased to admire this genius. His passion for France, his respect, his ambition, and his love for others made me want to spread republican values. »

David Serero

Napoleon allowed me to surpass myself in my work, in my eloquence. He was a man of peace who never ceased to bring people and religions together while maintaining the laws.

As an actor, I wanted to make Napoleon’s life better known to the general public. I first recorded the love letters to Joséphine in 2014. Then, in 2018, I adapted Stanley Kubrick's Napoleon on stage, in which I also played the role of Napoleon, recorded in the studio. I wrote a solo stage show Napoleon that I will perform in English, in 2021, in New York, in which he “tells” his story to the audience. I am also finishing a book, which will also be a documentary, on Napoleon, the Jews, and Judaism (“Napoleon, the Jews and Judaism”).

This year, I recorded Napoleon's great war speeches in French (1), and soon in English. It was a long research effort because Napoleon was the first to speak directly to his soldiers. He very quickly understood that apart from being a great strategist, harangues (which he mastered to perfection) could be a major asset to his success. We feel the love he had for his soldiers, whom he described as “invincible”, which allowed him to gain everyone’s trust. His speeches are real theatrical monologues, which must be performed with passion and without restraint.

Napoleon must be studied by all business “executives” in the world because we find the talent of a great manager who knows how to get the best out of his troops. We dare not imagine the emotion that the soldiers must have felt when listening to these speeches. Among these texts, we find the famous “Soldier, you are naked, malnourished”, then that of the Battle of Austerlitz, the Farewell to the Old Guard. I offer my interpretation of the evolution of Napoleon's personality, and how this affected his declamation.

Having grown up in the Parisian suburbs, I would like young people to study Napoleon. He brings together all the qualities of the citizen who has given so much to his country, and to his homeland. Napoleon is for me an inexhaustible source of knowledge, I learn about it every day.
